Eric- I completely agree with you. My hope is that it happens in the early 2030s, but I try to be accurate with forecasts. Given just what you referenced - the addiction and orientation to cars- I think that it will take 20 years for it to happen.
I hope you're wrong and Peak Auto comes sooner and the number of vehicles rapidly drops. We've oriented our society around cars and even without the threat of climate change, it's unsustainable.
